Yay!! The time has finally arrived for my trip to South Africa. Brenda Garnet and I left Red Deer at 1200 Sunday September 14. Left the car at the park n jet and made it to the airport for a 20 min. delay. Boarded and took off at 540 pm. The flight to Zurich was anything but relaxing as a small child screamed the entire flight. Thank god for noise cancelling ear buds and a phone full of great music. Landed in Zurich at 1030 am. Even with no sleep, there was some touring around to be done. With little help, We found the Train station, locked up Our carry-on bags and bought train tickets to old town Zürich. After a 20 minute train ride, we were on a patio having our first European beer. We walked around the Streets of old town, Zürich along the river and down little cobblestone streets, Brenda, of course, having to shop for souvenirs. After A couple hours we decided it was time to head back to the airport to catch our transfer to Frankfurt Germany. Finding our way back was much more difficult than going downtown, but we managed without too much trouble. Decided to have lunch at the airport. WOW!!! 3 beers, 2 bratwurst sausage with fries (no bun) meals and 1 club house sandwich with fries. For a mere $145 Canadian. Crazy expensive country. Absolutely gorgeous scenery from the little bit we saw. Definitely have to go back one day with Mike. Sitting at the airport,we realized that Brenda and Garnet’s plane tickets were different than my plane tickets and thus, they were on a different flight, leaving an hour after I was. So after three gate changes for me, I left Brenda and Garnet in Switzerland and took off on my flight to Frankfurt. I was a little worried I may never see them again, however since my flight was an hour delayed, we both ended up in Frankfurt within a half an hour of each other. At 10:30 PM Monday night we left Europe on our 11 hour flight to Cape Town. At 9:30 this morning we arrived in Cape Town had a 15 minute shuttle ride to our hotel and of course headed to an outdoor pub for a cold beer. At 12:30 our rooms were ready. We checked in and then headed for a walk down along the waterfront in Cape Town. The scenery is beautiful. Everything is green and lush. The temperature is around 18°C today. It’s now 4:30 in the afternoon and we’ve all had about four hours of sleep in the last two nights so we’ve decided to shower and rest up for the rest of the evening. Tomorrow we will figure out how to take the hop on hop off bus around Cape Town and meet up with our tour group about 5 o’clock in the afternoon.
Looks amazing so far glad you guys made. Keep sending can't wait
